Preaching Matthew in Advent, Christmas & Epiphany

A day for Ordained Ministers and Readers in the Dioceses of Durham and Newcastle
Led by Mark Bryant, Bishop of Jarrow, David Bryan, Director of Studies, Lindisfarne RTP and Catherine Pickford, Adviser for Continuing Ministerial Development, Diocese of Newcastle

As Matthew becomes the Gospel of the Year, this is an opportunity to explore how Matthew’s Gospel can enlighten our preaching in the seasons of Advent, Christmas and Epiphany.

David Bryan will seek to open up the texts from the lectionary, making links with recent commentaries and artistic representations; Bishop Mark will explore how the themes are drawn upon in film; and Catherine Pickford will help us think about the task of preaching in these seasons.

5 November 2016, 9.30am - 3.00pm
Church House, St John’s Terrace, North Shields, NE29 6HS
